We are looking for an inspired professional for the position of Part- Time Support Services Coordinator - Oakland/Berkeley, CA

Position Overview:

This role is the front line of customer support for our students. The SSC acts as an advocate for our students while also supporting our schools, host families, and natural parents. SSCs collaborate with FEAs to ensure student well-being and timely communication with natural parents. SSCs strive to provide a program environment in which every student will experience success and has the opportunity to reach and surpass their educational goals. SSCs serve as the Face of Cambridge at the local level and as such must consistently demonstrate the highest of professional standards.

Responsibilities:

Related to Students:

o Be available for the student when in need as a prime responsibility.

o Determine academic and residential needs for assigned students within a region (25 - 30 Cambridge Residential students at assigned schools).

o Track academic progress in consultations with school teachers, guidance counselors, tutors (if applicable), and host families.

o Make necessary plans for tutoring, guidance or personal support as needed.

o Perform and document monthly check-ins with the students and host families as described in the Support Services Manual.

o Plan, conduct, and document in Harmony orientations, quarterly events and cultural enrichment activities with students during the academic year.

o Attend school/community events and graduations as needed.

    • Actively collect real-time data of students' successes and share with marketing team on an ongoing basis. This includes matriculation information or any other success stories.

    o Mediate host family/student/parent communication to resolve issues proactively as necessary.

    o Work with students to facilitate host family changes and moves when necessary.

    o Collaborate with SSMs in creating Student Development Plans as outlined in the Support Services Manual.

    Related to Host Families

    Maintain a network of host families for year over year enrollment in the program.

    Maintain accuracy of host family data and statuses in Harmony to ensure accurate reporting, communication, and timely host matching.

    Conduct timely site visits of prospective host families within timeframe outlined on SSC Job Scorecard.

    Accurately document student move in & move out dates in Harmony to ensure correct and timely stipend payments to host families.


    Requirements:

    • Previous experience in counseling, particularly focused upon emotional, cultural, and interpersonal skills in adolescents.
    • Demonstrated expertise and experience with interpersonal problem-solving/conflict resolution/mediation.

    • Bachelors degree with 3+ years of experience in:
      school counseling, psychology, international education, human development, and/or teaching
    • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications; required
    • Required to have a car and US drivers license
    • Willing to have flexible work hours.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
    • Prior experience working with international students within the US and/or experience living/travelling internationally
